In this exclusive interview, we delve into the mind of D.O.U.B.T. s fearless creator, Devin Brice, to explore the inspiration, challenges and triumphs that have influenced both the brand and the visionary behind it.
From dealing with deep feelings and harsh realities after the loss of his mother at a young age, Brice’s experience of loss, grief and mental health provoked a necessary new journey as a designer / entrepreneur through D.O.U.B.T.
“My love for fashion started when I was young.
I have always viewed fashion as an art in the making simply because it grants you the opportunity to be free. D.O.U.B.T. was created to give people a fresh wave of streetwear.”

Can you share more about the inspiration behind D.O.U.B.T. and how you connect abstract and surrealist ideas with real-world issues like mental health and substance abuse in your apparel designs?
“The inspiration comes from past trauma in my life which allows me to draw connections to real world issues just like mental health. My past trauma also allows me to be able to relate to most people that have these issues who are afraid to express themselves. I use my inner thoughts and feelings to come up with designs or phrases that I go through in my everyday life.”
The use of high-quality materials like luxurious blends of cotton and French terry fabric sets D.O.U.B.T. apart. Could you elaborate on the importance of these materials in your clothing and the impact they have on the brand's overall identity?
“Quality is an essential part in setting yourself apart. My focus is not only to provide high quality clothing but also make the clothing comfortable. Comfortability is very important when trying to launch a brand because you want customers to be able to treat your clothes like everyday clothes.”
What sparked your love for design and where do you draw your inspiration from?
“Creativity sparks my love for design because it forces me to create something that is not normally seen, and it also pushes me to create the best work I can.
My inspiration comes from several places. I like to look at art pieces, paintings outside of buildings, etc. When I’m alone, my inspiration comes from my imagination. I personally believe that one of the best feelings ever is creating something in your mind that others can’t see nor understand. I can see art in things or places that others cannot see.”
D.O.U.B.T.'s mission is to create a new future for the streetwear world. What specific changes or innovations do you envision bringing to the streetwear industry, and how do you plan to achieve this goal?
“I view streetwear as something that is constantly repeated but I envision bringing more to the game, with a vital message that needs to be heard all over the world. I want the youth to be able to express themselves in as many ways as possible. I also want to bring new ways to make clothes standout such as using new types of fabric and all types of different garments.”
You mentioned your love for fashion and how it grants individuals the opportunity to be free. How does this personal philosophy influence the creative direction of D.O.U.B.T., and how do you see it reflected in your designs and collections?
“This personal philosophy influences my creative direction simply because of the arising problems the youth deal with daily. A few of my latest designs reflect this philosophy not because of the image but more so of the message behind the image. I like to create designs that reflect all types of problems, even if the discussion seems to be a sensitive topic. Another reason is because I see people wearing various types of outfits, even if the outfits may seem unusual to others - that is what sets them apart. My mission is to encourage people to accept themselves for who they are and be confident in themselves.”
Mental health is undoubtedly a worthy cause, and your dedication to making a difference through your streetwear designs is truly remarkable. What prompted you to act and get involved?
“I refuse to be someone that is afraid to speak on mental issues because of somebody else’s opinion. It pushes me more and more to continue to stand up for people who can’t stand up for themselves because they fear the backlash that comes with speaking up. I want to be an example of a true leader.”
"Narratives matter. Positive self-image, family bonds, strong communities, and a sense of security are fundamental to mental health. For black people, each has been not merely undermined but at times outright attacked by the predominant narratives in place since this country’s inception.
The fight for mental health is real. And necessary."
